Learn the Yogalign method with Michaelle Edwards


Yogalign is a breath-based neuromuscular exercise system designed to improve posture and core strength from the inside out. Using resistance breathing techniques, self-massage, pandiculation, proprioceptive enhancement and primal functional movements, posture can be restored by rewiring the brain.

For over 30 years Michaelle has been creating and developing FitAlign Posture Training and YogAlign on the island of Kauai, Hawaii, providing thousands of people worldwide with the self-car tools to be fit, aligned and pain-free. We are happy to host her at Yoga Moves Nyon for 2 full days.

Saturday, 9 May – 9:00 – 12:30

Experiential Introduction: Posture Matters

Although posture is not under conscious control, understanding how and why it matters reveals its influence on all body systems and the mind.

Participants will learn to:

  1. Use resistance breathing techniques to tone the core and rewire postural patterns in the brain
  2. Increase body awareness through activated self-massage to strengthen cortical mapping
  3. Participate in a two-hour movement-based class incorporating resistance breathing and psoas/diaphragm activation

Saturday, 9 May - 13:30 PM – 16:00

Participants will learn to:

  1. Self-evaluate posture, including skull, spine, shoulders, hips, and knees
  2. Activate the external and internal core to create balanced tensegrity through the nervous system
  3. Engage in a movement class integrating primal movement patterns with YogAlign resistance breathing

Sunday, 10 May  – 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Experiential Lecture: Pandiculation and Nervous System Reset

Learn how pandiculation can reset muscle tension and recalibrate the nervous system. Participants will learn to:

  1. Understand and activate muscle and fascial pulley systems to support effortless upright posture and biotensegrity
  2. Activate and experience anterior flexors, posterior extensors, lateral stabilizers, spirals, rotations, and the deep breathing chain for lift and expansion.
  3. Apply techniques to relieve back pain, sciatica, and plantar fasciitis, and understand key considerations for scoliosis, yoga, and the nervous system
  4. Participate in a movement class building on Saturday’s work with more advanced standing positions

Sunday, 10 May – 13:30 – 16:00  

Experiential Lecture: Breath, Anxiety, and Trauma

Participants will learn to:

  1. Understand how breath holding and resistance breathing can reduce anxiety and support PTSD and trauma recovery
  2. How breathing habits support brain health and lymph drainage
  3. Assess hyper-mobility in themselves and clients and apply appropriate strategies in yoga and stretching
  4. Practice active sitting for work, yoga, exercise, and daily activities such as driving
